(KNOX) – The Eastern Dakota Conference Tennis Tournament saw an upset that will leave Central out of the state tournament mix, while Red River will carry the second seed from the EDC to state.

Central was the fourth seed going into the tournament, but was upset by five-seed Fargo Davies 4-1 in the opening round of the team tournament.  The Knights fought their way to a qualifier with a 5-0 win over West Fargo Horace, but that tipped 3-2 by Fargo Shanley.

Red River blanked Fargo North 5-0 in the opening round, then fought off Shanley 4-1, before falling to top-seed Valley City 4-1 in the final.

Red River will face Bismarck Legacy in the opening round of the state tournament at 10:00 AM Thursday at Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks.
