Jarrod Thomas

Why broadcasting: As the story goes, when I went to college to play football, they told me that I had to go to class, so, I chose broadcasting. In all honesty, one of things I distinctly remember is standing on the “High Dive,” at the East Grand Forks, MN pool where I grew up and hearing an announcer intro, “Electric Avenue” by Eddy Grant and thinking, “That would be so cool, to be able to that.” I think I was about 12-years old at the time. Here I am, doing the thing.

Memorable career moment: The Eagles were coming to the Alerus Center here in Grand Forks and we invited the public out to University Park to “Meet Don Henley.” The person that got out of the limo for hundreds of people was, “Dawn Henley,” of some small ND town. Let’s just say, the community of Grand Forks, still talks about that one.

Personal motto: You can have results or excuses, not both.

When I am not watching or reporting the news, I enjoy: Golfing. I wish I was better at it but I really enjoy the challenge the game presents.

My favorite non-news or reporting obsession: I really enjoy true crime shows and documentary’s and docuseries. Oh, a good true crime podcast qualifies as a guilty pleasure as well.
