(KNOX) – The East Grand Forks Fire Department said that no one was hurt in a fire at American Crystal Sugar Sunday afternoon.
The fire department responded at 2:30 for the report heavy smoke in the pulp dryer area. All employees were evacuated.
Fire crews were on scene for over three hours containing the fire in the pulp dryers.
Fire officials said that because of the high heat there was some extension into duct work and a small part of the roof.
The fire reportedly started due to a power outage that caused some equipment to stop working.
