University of Colorado president Mark Kennedy has been censured by the faculty assembly of the Boulder campus for what it called a “failure of leadership with respect to diversity, equity and inclusion.”
Kennedy was UND’s president from 2016 to 2019.
A University of Colorado statement says the assembly voted 34-to-19 on Thursday to forward the censure to the Boulder Faculty Senate and U-C Board of Regents, which will consider Kennedy’s contract in June.
Colorado media reports say the censure accuses Kennedy of refusing to include diversity, equity and inclusion as “a stand-alone pillar in his administration’s strategic plan.”
In a statement, Kennedy said he understands the concerns raised…adding that they are among his top priorities. Kennedy said he welcomes constructive criticism and active engagement to help advance those priorities.
