UND Football Quarterback Jerry Kaminski Previews Saturday’s Game at Nebraska

(KNOX) -The No. 6 ranked UND football team will play on the road for the second straight week this Saturday when they face Nebraska. The Fighting Hawks are 3-0 after beating Portland State 47-23 last Saturday.

Quarterback Jerry Kaminski continues to dominate so far this season, as he had a career-high 336 passing yards in last week’s win. In three games, he’s thrown for 801 passing yards, 11 touchdown passes and two interceptions. He also had a career-high five touchdown passes in the win against St. Thomas and was named the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Tommies. He says his success stems from the offensive unit he’s working with.

The Hawks have scored over 40 points in each win, and they had 627 yards of offense against Portland State. Kaminski believes the offense is just scratching the surface.

Seven different wide receivers and tight ends have caught touchdown passes from Kaminski. He enjoys having several options to throw to.

Wide receiver Korey Tai has four touchdown catches this season, and he caught a 74-yard touchdown in last week’s win. Kaminski has been close with Tai going back to high school, and he’s enjoyed getting to play with him during his UND career.

Kaminski was a first year start last season who set a school record for most regular season touchdowns in a single season. He says he’s learned a lot from being the starting QB from year one to year two.

Nebraska is an FBS team that is in the Big Ten Conference. Kaminski and the Hawks will be going to Memorial Stadium to play the Cornhuskers. He says the team is excited for the opportunity to play in such a historic stadium, but at the same time is determined to build off the first three weeks.

A win on Saturday would get the Hawks to a 4-0 record. Kaminski also says beating Nebraska would say a lot about what the team can accomplish and establish.
