(KNOX) – The Grand Forks Central football team starts the 2026 season tonight when they go on the road to play Bismarck St. Mary’s. The Knights started last season 6-0 but finished 7-3, losing three of their last four games.
Brody Leddige is returning as a junior, and this time, he is the definitive QB1 for the team. He split time as a sophomore last season, and he says this year’s team is ready to roll after a structured offseason.
Despite losing several important players like Naz Fischer and Brooklyn Bruce, Leddige thinks this year’s team has strong depth.
Leddige would usually come in during the second half of a game and play quarterback last year. He recorded a team-leading 788 passing yards and seven touchdown passes. He also had four interceptions and a 52 percent completion percentage. He says he was able to settle in right away.
Leddige and running back Carson Kotrba are both juniors, and they each got substantial playing time as sophomores in 2025. Kotrba had 29 carries, 190 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Leddige says he and Kotrba have a strong bond and are on the same page about what they want to accomplish this year.
Central started 6-0 and ended 2025 with a 7-3 record. Leddige says having consistency will be important.
