UND Football Players Johnnie Wiltshire and Avery Scott’s Season Up In The Air Again After NCAA’s Stay Request

By Alex Carmenaty Aug 24, 2026 | 8:11 AM

(KNOX) –UND Football players Johnnie Wiltshire and Avery Scott’s eligibility for this season are in question again, as the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit ruled in favor of the NCAA’s stay request in the Wisne vs. NCAA case. A stay request is when a court is asked to pause a ruling they made. This ruling from July says that Class of 2022 high school athletes who already used four years of college eligibility are able to receive and use an option for a fifth season. UND Football players David Neuberger and Jy Martin are also affected by this stay request.

Wiltshire and Scott both received temporary restraining orders last month. They are now waiting for preliminary injunction court hearings, and a favorable ruling would allow them both to play in 2026. The Fighting Hawks football team starts the 2026 season this Thursday when they host LIU.
