(KNOX) – Circle of Friends Animal Shelter board members believe the shelter is ready to return to the public eye.
The Grand Forks nonprofit organization has rebounded, after being on the brink of closure two years ago. The organization has turned things around by having strong fiscal years and monthly board meetings that focused on staying financially responsible.
Exiting Chairman Mitch Price oversaw the transformation. Now, Brad Sherwood, the current vice chairman and incoming chairman, will look toward maintaining the same acumen while tackling projects that not long ago were considered unforeseeable.
Despite cutbacks and a tight budget, Circle of Friends saw an increase in total pet intake of 108 in 2025. Intake from city animal control has jumped from 30 pets a month to 50 to 60 a month in 2026.
