(KNOX/Valley News Live) –An arrest warrant has been issued for a 19-year-old Grand Forks man charged for his role in a fatal crash last week.
Cornelio Christian Vasquez IV was charged in Cass County Court Monday. He is facing charges for homicide while fleeing a peace officer, manslaughter, fleeing a peace officer in a vehicle resulting in risk of death or serious bodily injury; two counts of reckless endangerment; and reckless driving. A warrant for his arrest was issued on Tuesday and he is currently not in custody.
Vasquez IV was going 109 mph in a 55 mph zone, when he was trying to flee a North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper. He was driving in a BMW when he struck a Honda Accord that was driven by Ian Frye of Christine. Frye died at the scene.
There were two juveniles with Vasquez in the BMW , and all three of them were taken to Sanford Hospital in Fargo with non-life-threatening injuries. The names of the juveniles involved will not be released because of state law.
