(KNOX) – The showdown for the Eastern Dakota Conference tennis title did not fall Red River’s way Thursday.
The Roughriders were nipped by Valley City 5-4 yesterday, ending the regular season. Red River finishes 9-1 in league play, while the Hi-Liners finished 10-0.
Red River made two runs at the title, challenging at number two doubles, and again challenging at number one singles, both considered toss-up matches. Rider players held early leads in both matches, but Valley City turned away the effort.
The EDC tournament is next week in Fargo.
