(Central Release) – GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Grand Forks Central High School is excited to announce, Jonathon Vonesh has accepted the Head Girls Basketball Coach position at Grand Forks Central High School.
Vonesh brings 15 plus years of head coaching experience in both boys and girls high school basketball. His first head coaching role was at Midway for the girls program in 2003, before moving to East Grand Forks Sacred Heart to become the Head Coach of the boys program. After three seasons at Sacred Heart, he then became the Head Coach at Central Valley, his alma mater for four years. He then moved back into the Girls Head Coaching role at Climax-Fisher for eight years from 2011-2019.
In recent years, Coach Vonesh has been a member of the Grand Forks Central Knights coaching staff, serving as an assistant coach under Mike Mathison the past two seasons.
“Jonathon brings stability to our program, serving as our Head C-Squad coach and assistant coach under
Mathison. The girls are familiar with his coaching style and understand his expectations as a coach.” said Tony Bina, athletic director at Grand Forks Central High School. “Jonathon puts a strong emphasis on coaching
fundamentals necessary to succeed and relates well to the girls building confidence and getting the most out of his players. He will continue to build the culture that was developed under Coach Mathison, and bring new
ideas to the program.”

team-first basketball”, stated new girls basketball coach, Jonathon Vonesh.

Vonesh owns his own realty company, Vonesh Real Estate Team Keller Williams Inspire Realty based out of Grand Forks. He is married to his wife, Nichole, and they have four children.
