Clean-up is underway at the site of another crude oil spill in western North Dakota.
The Division of Water Quality reports that 7,560 gallons of oil spilled from a flare pit overflow in Billings County. The release was reported Friday about 14 miles southeast of Grassy Butte. Roughly half the oil impacted nearby pastureland.
State health officials are inspecting the site and will continue to monitor the investigation and remediation.

A tank failure is being blamed for a liquid magnesium chloride release four miles southeast of Alexander (ND). The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality was notified of the mishap on Friday. Dustbusters Enterprises Inc. estimates that over 312,000 gallons of the dust suppression and roadway deicing solution was released – some impacting agricultural land and the Lonesome Creek watershed. Clean-up efforts are underway.
