American Crystal Sugar Marks 50 Years

American Crystal used Thursday’s annual meeting in Fargo to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary.
President and CEO Tom Astrup told attendees that A-C-S had one of the best crops ever in 2023. The crop set a record for yield – averaging 31.9 tons per acre with a sugar content of 18.58%. The cooperative is forecasting a record payment of nearly $85 per ton.
American Crystal Sugar was organized in 1973 and is owned by nearly 2,800 growers today and employs nearly 1,400 full-time workers. The company operates five factory districts – including East Grand Forks.
