The price-tag for a new Twining School build on the Grand Forks Air Force Base is estimated at nearly $78.2 million dollars.
The Grand Forks School Board reviewed the design plans last night (Monday) previously endorsed by the District-140 board. The GFAFB School Board agreed to submit those plans by today’s (Tuesday) deadline to the U.S Department of Defense in hope of landing a Military Installations Grant that will pay 80% of the construction bill.
Grand Forks Superintendent Terry Brenner called it pretty darn exciting. “There wasn’t a lot of conversation about renovation but there was about a new build.”
Around $650 million dollars is available under the grant program.

School board members are expected to give final approval to the tax levy when they meet October 9th. The total operating budget tops $127 million dollars. Property valuation increases plus the voter approved new Valley Middle School and safety features will boost taxes for homeowners next year. The mill levy remains unchanged.
