(KNOX) –At Monday’s Grand Forks School Board meeting, some attendees mentioned their frustrations for what they believe has been poor communication from district leaders over the amount of paraprofessionals that can help students.

Lake Agassiz Elementary teacher Amanda Loiland says she was notified one week before the school year started that there will only be one paraprofessional for every three students.
Loiland also says she’s worried about the effects less paraprofessionals are having.
School board members usually do not respond to comments made by the public at meetings, but School Board President JoNell Bakke recognized their concerns. Bakke was a special education teacher.
District leaders plan to meet with all of the special education teachers today.
The Grand Forks School Board also voted unanimously to hold a hearing to consider ending Tara Ulrich’s contract. She is a special education teacher at South Middle School. Superintendent Terry Brenner said in a memo that it was recommended her contract end because of “insubordination, conduct unbecoming of her position, and/or failure to perform contracted duties without justification.”
Brenner also says that she submitted an incomplete letter of resignation before the school year started.
