Authorities say a Grand Forks man charged with attempted murder in a Sunday morning shooting incident remains at large.
Grand Forks Police and the Grand Forks Regional SWAT team tried to serve a high-risk warrant this (Mon) afternoon on 25-year-old Omar Martinez at the 1200 block of North 39th Street. But Police say Martinez was not in his apartment and his whereabouts are unknown.
Police had issued a shelter-in-place order for residents in that area.
According to Grand Forks County District Court documents, Martinez was charged today (Mon) with attempted murder and reckless endangerment.
Police say Martinez allegedly fired a gun at a car occupied by an adult and a juvenile around 9:00 AM Sunday at the 1200 block of South Columbia Road.
Police say an initial investigation showed the incident stemmed from a confrontation the previous night … and appeared to be a targeted incident between people known to each other. No injuries were reported.

From GFPD: On May 22nd, 2023 the Grand Forks Police Department in conjunction with the Grand Forks Regional SWAT team attempted to serve a high risk warrant in the 1200 block of North 39th St. on the suspect in this case, 25-year-old Omar Agustin Martinez of Grand Forks, ND.

At 3:45 PM, Grand Forks Police issued an all clear for the area around the 1200 block of North 39th Street in Grand Forks. It had been under a shelter in place order
Police say more information will be released later.
There was a large police presence in that area earlier this (Mon) afternoon. Police said they were trying to serve a high-risk warrant in connection with a Sunday morning shooting incident.
It is believed that police were looking for 25-year-old Omar Martinez of Grand Forks.
Martinez was charged today with attempted murder and reckless endangerment. But Police said this (Mon) afternoon that he had not yet been arrested.

About a half-dozen law enforcement vehicles and the Grand Forks Regional SWAT team are on the scene…and a shelter in place order has been issued to neighbors.
