Cavalier students return to school

It’s back to school for students in the Cavalier School District. A social media threat closed classrooms the last two days in order to give law enforcement a chance to check things out.

Police determined there was no substantiated threat to students or staff. A statement released by the P-D says a juvenile has been cited into juvenile court as a result of the incident – and that the investigation continues.

Teachers…counselors…and administrators will address PK-12 students about the events – and a new cell phone policy. The policy directs students to keep cell phones in their hallway locker and turned off. They will not be allowed to be used from 7:35 am to 3:35 pm. Any cell phone seen or heard by any staff member will be immediately confiscated and turned into the school office.

According to the district the change is being made to help enhance school safety and student well-being.
