Fufeng update set for February

By Doug Barrett Jan 24, 2023 | 9:10 AM

The topic that generated the most discussion at last night’s (Monday) Grand Forks council session wasn’t even a regularly scheduled agenda item.

Council member Ken Vien asked whether a special meeting was needed to address several critical areas related to the proposed Fufeng project. Vien says those range from water and security to economic and risk assessment.

Council President Dana Sande asked Vien to share a list of his concerns with the rest of the council. Sande says as long as the company meets all the steps spelled out in the development agreement the project should move forward.

Vien says he views the development agreement as a means to do the studies needed before the council votes the project up or down.

The council will get an updated overview of the corn milling plant at its February 13th meeting.
