GF schools delay referendum election

By Doug Barrett Jul 12, 2022 | 7:46 AM

The Grand Forks School Board will push a scheduled September 27th special election to the spring of 2023.

The board took the action last night (Monday) after hearing a presentation by ICON Architects on a new Valley Middle School and Child Nutrition Center at the Mark Sanford Education Center.

The general consensus was that more time is needed to educate the public on the proposed $55 million dollar referendum.  Board President Eric Lunn says the September date is coming quickly.  Business Manager Brandon Baumbach says a pause could help in cost planning as building materials are at a premium right now.

A specific date for the election will come before the board at a future meeting.
