A 25-year-old Minnesota man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for victimizing dozens of people in a “years-long sextortion scheme.”
The U.S. Department of Justice says Mitchell Ottinger pleaded guilty last year to producing and attempting to produce child pornography.
Authorities say the former substitute teacher obtained sexually explicit images and videos of minors and adults by using false online personas. He then threatened to release the images and videos in order to extort more images and videos. Ottinger victimized 42 people – including at least 23 minors.
