(KNOX) – The No.7 ranked UND Football team starts Missouri Valley Conference play this Saturday when they go on the road to play Indiana State. The Fighting Hawks are 3-1, after losing their first game of the season to Nebraska 34-7.
Sophomore Defensive Back Grant Noland had eight tackles in the game against the Cornhuskers. He says losing for the first time this year further motivates this team.
Even with the loss, Noland enjoyed being able to play at Memorial Stadium, one of college football most historic venues.
Noland says the team didn’t communicate well last Saturday, and that everyone needs to be on the same page.
Noland is a sophomore who has started in every game this year, and who started as a freshman last season. He has recorded 16 tackles, 12 solo tackles, five passes defended, a fumble recovery in four games this season. He’s noticed two things about how he’s developed.
UND beat Indiana State 46-17 last season, but Noland says the team can’t afford to underestimate them.
If the Fighting Hawks win, they would start conference play 1-0, and have a 4-1 record five games in. Noland has a simple message about what the team wants to provide this season.
UND plays Indiana State Saturday at 12pm.
