(KNOX) – The University of North Dakota says its construction of the new flight operations center is on schedule to be completed by next spring. The project first started in May 2025, and it will be located on the northern side of the field at Grand Forks International Airport.
UND Aerospace Dean Robert Krauss says the construction will be done by next January, and that it will take time to move into the new building. The university’s flight operations are currently located across the street in the administration building. Krauss expects everything to be moved in by early spring, as the SAMA (Student Aviation Management Association) conference is the first scheduled event to happen in the new operations center. There is also a career fair scheduled for April 23.
Krauss also says that construction will need to still happen for a new air traffic control tower and parking at the airport will be limited. The tower project is expected to be completed by 2028, and more parking will be available for students either that same year or in 2029.
