(KNOX) – The Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities has approved a tuition hike of 6.25% for students this fall. The move impacts all 33 colleges and universities within the system.
The increase was part of the fiscal year 2027 budget adopted by the board. Over the last decade tuition increases have averaged less than 3% per year. One reason given for the tuition jump is that Minnesota State did not receive any new operating funding from the legislature in the last budgeting session.
The system includes 26 community and technical colleges and seven state universities serving some 270,000 students.
