(KNOX) – One year ago today, Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated when speaking at an event at Utah Valley University. Kirk was shot in the neck and he ended up dying at 31 years old. He was known for going onto various college campuses and having open debates about religious, political and social issues.
He was supposed to come to the University of North Dakota a month after he died. UND Student Brylan Ringenberg was impressed with how many people still attended that event last October.
UND Student Alex Johnson has taken a lot of inspiration from him and she believes he’s left a lasting impact.
Kirk founded TPUSA in 2012 and he used his platform to give a voice to conservative students on college campuses. Turning Point has over 900 chapters at universities across the country. One of them is at the University of North Dakota.
