Moorhead Casino Plans Move Forward with White Earth Nation

(KNOX) – The White Earth Nation this week released an Economic and Social Impact Study on plans to bring a casino to the Moorhead area.

The project would be located on 296 acres of land near I-29 and Highway 336. The casino would include 950 gaming machines and 10 table games as well as multiple dining options..bars..and a gift shop. An adjacent hotel would provide 200 rooms and a 50 pad RV park.

An economic analysis suggests the casino would cost $177 million dollars to build and attract over 1.1 million visitors. The report suggests annual operating tax revenue of over $25 million for federal…state…and county levels.

The study concludes that the project represents a major opportunity for economic development with minimal negative effects on housing…schools…and social services.

The casino project ultimately needs federal approval.
