(KNOX) – Layoffs and furloughs have been announced at the Energy and Environmental Research Center at the University of North Dakota.
The reason given for the reductions are delays in funding for both research and projects, according to David Dodds, UND Assistant Vice President of Communications David Dodds.
Dodds says 40 benefited employees are affected. They were told Thursday morning.
In a statement, Dodds says, “It is the intention of the EERC to bring furloughed employees back to work as soon as possible, based on operational needs and restoration of funding.”
The EERC had about 210 employees prior to the layoffs.
