(KNOX) – Grand Forks Red River expanded their lead over the field in the Eastern Dakota Conference standings with an 8-1 win over West Fargo at Blue Line IcePlex Tuesday.

The Riders found scoring difficult despite outshooting West Fargo 15-3 in the opening period.  But Red River tallied three times in the second, four more times in the third, and outshot West Fargo 45-8 in a commanding win.

Stetson Brown scored a five-point night with a hat-trick and a pair of assists.  Griffen Haagenson and Mason Brenno each had six-point finishes, Brenno on two goals and four helpers, Haagenson with a goal and five assists.  Caden Ulmer and Cullen Rost added goals.

Red River now has 27 points in the EDC standings, four better than Central, who was in non-conference action.  The Riders play out of the league Thursday, hosting Thief River Falls Thursday.
