(KNOX) – North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley released the state’s 2024 crime data this week.

The data shows violent crime fell by about 8.5 percent from 2023 to 2024. That includes a decrease in murders, down from 24 in 2023 to 19 in 2024.

But the numbers also show a continuation in a pattern Wrigley said is concerning. Crime has slowly increased in the state since 2020.

“Is this new normal that you hear so much about in the communities?” Wrigley said. “The question remains, is this new plateau, are we just going to accept it? Are we just going to just say there’s nothing that we can do about it?”
