(KNOX) – The Alerus Center may be under new management, but the discussion will move onto another week.
The Grand Forks City Council has tabled a discussion about the future of the Grand Forks Event Center Commission to their Committee of the Whole meeting next week. The discussion will center around the council absorbing the role that the Event Center Commission, which has made operating decisions for the Alerus Center since it’s inception.
The Events Center commission has three vacancies after the resignation of Jarrod Spoor, Scott Foyt and Greg Rixen. Rixen was also commission chair before stepping down.
City Administrator Todd Feland described the situation as a crossroads, saying the city felt it was time to discuss who should lead the commission before filling the vacancies.
No decision was made during Monday’s meeting, but council members did vote to move the topic to the next Committee of the Whole work session on May 11 for further discussion.
