(KNOX) – A warning is going out to the public regarding kratom products.

Grand Forks Public Health is urging the public to do some individual research on the products before using them.   Seeking out advice from physicians is also recommended.

Several states have issued bans on kratom.  In 2025, North Dakota lawmakers considered a bill that would have banned kratom, according to North Dakota Monitor reporting.  The legislature opted for a study rather than a ban.
Kratom is a plant native to Southeast Asia.  The production are typically sold at smoke shops and convenience stores in various forms, including pills, capsules and gummies.
