The East Grand Forks council will review a new one year agreement with Bird Rides Inc. for electric scooter rental when they meet on Tuesday. The company reports 219 total rides during a shortened 2023 scooter season.
The move comes as Bird Rides has entered into a financial restructuring plan. Bird has filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
Interim CEO Michael Washinushi says the company is making progress toward profitability. “We remain focused on our mission to make cities more livable by using micromobility to reduce car usage, traffic, and carbon emissions.”
