Devils Lake health investment plan

The latest meeting to resolve health care issues in Devils Lake (ND) wrapped up Monday with assurances that an improvement plan is in the works for the existing hospital building.

U.S. Senator John Hoeven says CommonSpirit Health has agreed to start work in December on a new emergency room and ready a master facilities plan for public comment by February.
Hoeven says the current hospital hasn’t received a major investment since 1972.  “It can’t be a master plan that some day this and maybe some day that.  This has gone on too long and they need specifics.”

In addition Hoeven says Essentia Health will provide a plan early next year of what a new hospital facility could look like in the Lake Region.

In 2022 the Devils Lake Commission signed a Letter of Intent designed to help spur development of a new hospital project. The collaborative effort involves Altru Health…Essentia…Spirit Lake Nation…and the city.
