Becker County stabbing investigation

The Becker County (MN) Sheriff’s Department is investigating a stabbing incident in the tiny community of Pine Point.
Deputies with the Becker County Sheriff’s Department called out shortly before 2:30 Thursday morning and found a male victim with a stab wound to his chest. Authorities say 34-year old James Kettle of Ponsford (MN) was transported to a hospital in Detroit Lakes. A condition report was not available.
Authorities identified the suspect as 25 year old Marcus Waybenais of Walker (MN). He was arrested several hours later — initial charges include 1st and 2nd degree assault. Formal charges are being reviewed by the Becker County Attorney’s Office.

Meanwhile…the search continues for a 40-year old White Earth man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting of a 35-year old David Hanks Jr. in Pine Point on Sunday. 40-year old Michael Croud is wanted for 2nd degree murder.
