(KNOX) – Xcel Energy officials and community leaders kicked off construction of the company’s new Grand Forks Service Center.
The company is building its new facility at its existing property off Demers Avenue just to the southwest of downtown.
The new service center will be about 30% larger than the current building, enhancing safety for team members by providing more space for daily operations.
About 30 employees will be based at the new service center. The building will not be open to the public.
The first phase of construction includes a new fleet garage and weld shop building.
Xcel Energy expects to open the new service center in 2025.
