Grand Forks County goal for herd immunity…..60%

By Doug Barrett Feb 3, 2021 | 8:45 AM

Grand Forks is inching towards so-called herd immunity for COVID-19 one shot at a time.

According to Grand Forks Health Department’s Michael Dulitz just over ten-percent of county residents have received at least one dose of vaccine and 4.6 percent are fully protected.  Dulitz told county commissioners this week that the goal is to eventually vaccinate 60-percent of the population.

Health Director Debbie Swanson says the Alerus Center will continue to be the centralized location for vaccine distribution – but as the county moves into other tiers public health will have a presence in rural communities.

In neighboring Polk County (MN) just over eleven-percent of the population has received a single shot and nearly three-percent are fully vaccinated.
