Grand Forks health officials say they continue to put COVID vaccine shots into the arms of residents as quickly as possible. The county is expected to receive about two-thousand doses of vaccine this week and next. At last count Grand Forks has administered around 10,300 shots to date.
Public Health Director Deb Swanson says they are also measuring the various tiers of vaccination – including to those over the age of 75. “We have vaccinated a little less than 43% according to census data so we do have a little work to do with those individuals over 75. We hope to bump those numbers up this week and next.”
On the plus side incidence of new cases has remained low and testing rates are high compared to peer counties. In addition Altru reported zero hospitalizations one day last week.
With a goal of vaccinating 60% of the population Grand Forks County has a two shot coverage rate of about five-percent – slightly above the statewide average.
