(KNOX) – The 60-year-old man arrested in connection with an incident that left a 28-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries near the Wild Rice River has had his bond set at $1 million.

Tracy Peters of Rapid City, South Dakota was arrested Wednesday afternoon and he is accused of sexually assaulting and attacking a woman who suffered defensive injuries.

Peters made his initial court appearance last Friday via Zoom. He faces three felony charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and gross sexual imposition. A judge has ordered him at least 300 yards away from the woman, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 4th at 1:30pm.

Peters apparently has family in Cass County and he was arrested at an apartment complex in Fargo.

Peters also has a criminal history. In 2016, Peters was indicted on charges that he assaulted an inmate with a dangerous weapon and he pleaded guilty in 2017.

The Cass County Sheriff’s office is investigating the incident, and Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner believes the woman was left to die. Two hunters were able to get to the woman from a game camera alert.
