GFFD: Fire damages apartment building

By Doug Barrett Aug 4, 2023 | 8:41 AM

A kitchen fire has displaced the tenants of an eight unit apartment building in Grand Forks.

Fire crews responded to the call at 3722 Berkeley Drive around 10:45 p.m. last night (Thursday). Grand Forks Battalion Chief Chuck Marcott says when they arrived on scene smoke was coming from the two story building.

Firefighters located the blaze on the upper floor and extinguished the flames. Marcott says the unit suffered fire and smoke damage — with smoke damage spreading throughout the complex.

The cause was determined to be unattended cooking. There were no injuries. The occupants are being assisted by the University of North Dakota Housing.
