A proposed petition to initiate a constitutional measure has been submitted to North Dakota Secretary of State Michael Howe.
According to Howe, the proposed initiative relates to prohibiting all political subdivisions from levying any tax on real or personal property … except for bonded indebtedness until paid
The proposed petition is subject to Howe’s review and approval.
The Secretary of State and the state Attorney General have five to seven business days to draft a petition title. That statement must fairly represent the measure and be included on the petition circulated for the signatures of qualified electors.
The petition title will be provided to the sponsoring committee no later than June 26th.
