East Grand Forks may seek support in a state bonding bill to help facilitate park and rec improvements.
Park Superintendent Reid Huttunen told city council members last night (Tuesday) that the deadline to submit requests for the 2024 Capital Budget process is June 16th. Huttunen says bonding for major infrastructure portions of the plan could free up additional dollars if voters also approve a one-percent sales tax next year. Huttunen says that put certain amenities back on the table.
Council member Brian Larson called it a great opportunity and something the city should pursue.
The money would target improvements to ice arenas and ball fields.

In other action electric scooters are getting ready to roll into East Grand Forks. The council has reviewed the latest draft agreement with Bird Rides Inc. One question still to be decided is the hours of operation. No action was taken during last night’s work session.
The scooters are already in operation on the Grand Forks side of the river.
