The 2022 elections are still a ways off but local officials are keeping an eye on the calendar.
Until like the 2020 balloting Grand Forks County will not utilize a single voting location – at the Alerus Center. County Auditor Deb Nelson says the entire arena portion of the building won’t be available for both the June and November elections.
Nelson says as a result they will set up shop at four separate city sites – and six locations in the county. “We will have voting centers in the city of Grand Forks. That means anybody can go to the Alerus Center…ICON Arena…Home of Economy…or Holy Family. If you are outside the city we will have the Alerus Center for those in Brenna…Falconer… Grand Forks…and Walle. But they can also go to any of the other voting centers.”
Rural polling locations will include: Gilby…Larimore…Manvel… Northwood…Thompson…and Emerado.
The Grand Forks County Commission has agreed to increase the pay for judges and inspectors pushing the estimated cost of an election to just shy of $57,000 dollars.
