The Grand Forks School Board will be asked on Monday night to appoint Michael Biermaier as the District Activities Director. Biermaier currently serves a the Athletic Director for Thief River Falls.
The position was created as part by a reorganization of the athletic department. It replaces a single athletics Director with two high school athletic directors. In a staff memo Superintendent Terry Brenner says Biermaier will collaborate with the principals at Central and Red River to fill the two new AD positions.
A total of three internal and three external candidates applied for the position. Brenner added Biermaier had a “Proven track record of bringing athletic coaches and academic advisors together with a shared understanding that all activities are important for all participants.”
When the reorganization was announced it was estimated the move would cost the district an additional $22,000.
The posted salary for the District Activities Director is $132,050.
