The Grand Forks School Board will be asked on Monday night to appoint Michael Biermaier as the District Activities Director.  Biermaier currently serves a the Athletic Director for Thief River Falls.

The position was created as part by a reorganization of the athletic department.  It replaces a single athletics Director with two high school athletic directors.  In a staff memo Superintendent Terry Brenner says Biermaier will collaborate with the principals at Central and Red River to fill the two new AD positions.

A total of three internal and three external candidates applied for the position.  Brenner added Biermaier had a “Proven track record of bringing athletic coaches and academic advisors together with a shared understanding that all activities are important for all participants.”

When the reorganization was announced it was estimated the move would cost the district an additional $22,000.

The posted salary for the District Activities Director is $132,050.
