By Pat Sweeney Dec 14, 2021 | 12:03 PM

Winning entries have been announced in the North Dakota D-O-T’s first “Name a Snowplow” contest.

The public submitted 856 names for a snowplow in each of the state’s eight D-O-T districts.

D-O-T Director Bill Panos says submissions from each district were narrowed to five names with winners decided by a vote of department employees.

Winning names in each district:

Grand Forks: Storming Norman

Devils Lake: Blizzard Wizard

Fargo: Below Zero Hero

Valley City: Orange Thunder

Dickinson: Plowasaurus Rex

Minot: Truck Norris

Williston: Plowzilla

Bismarck: Darth Blader

Darth Blader was also one of the winning names in a Minnesota D-O-T contest earlier this year.

Panos added: “We’ll work to get decals on the trucks, then invite winners to meet the plow drivers and have their photos taken with the drivers and the plows.”
