(KNOX/KFGO) – North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley’s office says the state is going to receive $2.5 million in a settlement with General Motors. The settlement relates to allegations made that GM sold driver’s data illegally.

A lawsuit accused GM of collecting or selling data such as one’s location to insurance companies without the driver’s knowledge. The data was partially used to set insurance rates.

36 Attorneys General sued GM, and that data was being collected from 2016 to 2024.

As part of the settlement drivers can request a copy of what data was collected and have it deleted.
