ND special session date set

By Doug Barrett Sep 23, 2021 | 9:00 AM

North Dakota’s Senate Majority Leader says lawmakers will be back November 8th, to deal primarily with two big subjects: one is redistricting, the other is spending the $1 billion from the American Rescue Plan Act.

Dickinson Republican Rich Wardner says the interim redistricting committee is putting the final touches on its plan, and the House and Senate Appropriations Committees will hold hearings before the session on the ARPA money.  He says that means two bills will be ready.  “There will be the redistricting bill…there will be the appropriations bill…and there will be more hearings so people will get 2-3 cracks at it before it’s passed by the full assembly.”

Wardner says doing it this way will mean a short session, that could be done in five to 8 days. He says if lawmakers have ideas for other issues to be considered, those would have to come through the delayed bills committee.
