The North Dakota Board of Higher Education’s Budget and Finance Committee has approved UND’s request to sell three lots on the 400 block of Princeton Street.
UND associate V-P for facilities Mike Pieper said that the Delta Upsilon Fraternity wants to build a new house on the land.
The current fraternity house is at 505 Princeton. Pieper says that land would revert back to UND.
“Working with that fraternity, they’ve made us aware that they’re close to securing the dollars to start that project,” Pieper said, “so we’re just asking for permission to start the process to sell the property.”
The committee unanimously okayed the request as long as UND is legally protected if Delta Upsilon should change its mind on the deal.
The request must still be approved by the full board.
