(KNOX) – At Monday’s committee of the whole meeting, the Grand Forks City Council made several preliminary approvals.
The Grand Forks City Council gave preliminary approval to an ownership change for J&N Operations LLC. J&N does business as Grand Forks Taxi and the ownership change will be from Jesse Stephan to Nate Gregoire. The city of Grand Forks also approves regulations for all services in the community and is required to approve new companies or any ownership changes.
The City Council also gave preliminary approval to the Grand Forks Police Department to purchase 126 new Glock handguns and associated accessories for roughly $132,946.
The City Council also preliminarily approved a $154,386 change order for the municipal solid waste landfill soil treatment pad project. This decision was made after more soil was found than originally expected.
The City Council also preliminarily approved a $138,308 task order with the firm AE2S for design and construction administration. The task order is for an improvement project at a ground storage reservoir at South 34th Street that would replace a pump and other equipment.
The City Council also heard updates on proposed 2027 state legislative priorities from the Grand Forks Legislative Committee.
The City Council gave preliminary approval to accepting the Grand Forks Housing Action plan. This includes discussing the city’s park allocation ordinance. This would maintain the three-year special assessment deferral process, as well as develop policies regarding the engineering department’s infrastructure design services and make housing a priority in Grand Forks in the upcoming legislative session. The council also preliminarily accepted an invitation to participate in the Housing Supply Accelerator Challenge from the National League of Cities.
