(KNOX) –A 37-year-old Fargo woman was arrested on Tuesday by the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office in connection to a robbery that happened last month.
Megan Whitetail is being charged with Class B felony robbery with serious bodily injury. She could be seeing up to 10 years in prison if she’s convicted.
Court documents say the Grand Forks Police Department heard about an alleged robbery when officers were conducting a welfare check at Centennial Park on September 15th.
Officers saw a woman who had a black eye and two large bruises on the right side of her face. The woman apparently told officers Whitetail assaulted her September 13th.
She accused Whitetail of approaching her when she was on the ground outside of a Hugo’s at 500 Demers Avenue.
Whitetail is accused of kicking her in the face and taking her cellphone that is valued at $175. The woman also says that she was not able to see out of her right eye for a short period of time because of how hard she was hit.
Court documents also say that law enforcement spoke with a witness who validated the story.
Whitetail is currently in custody at the Grand Forks County Correctional Center, and she is prohibited from having contact with the victim.
Whitetail made her initial court appearance Wednesday and is due back in court for her preliminary hearing November 23rd at 9am.
