(KNOX) – An 18-year-old man has been charged by federal prosecutors for planning an act of terrorism while having a firearm. Authorities say Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud planned to carry out an attack at the Mall of America during an event that is supposed to happen later this month. Investigators say a nearly two year FBI investigation found Mohamud pledged allegiance to Islamic terrorist group ISIS and planned to murder at least 30 to 60 people. He was arrested by the FBI Tuesday after apparently buying multiple items from an undercover officer such as an AK-47, magazines, and ammunition. He faces a possible life sentence in prison if convicted.
