(KNOX/KFYR) –A woman is facing felony forgery charges for allegedly trying to cash stolen checks that belong to an 85-year-old man in assisted living.
Amanda Foreman was arrested Tuesday at a Bismarck Bank. Investigators say Foreman tried to cash a $500 check made out to her from the man’s account.
Bank staff flagged the check, and employees contacted the co-signer, who confirmed the man has been living in a care facility since April.
Prosecutors say the man’s home was ransacked when the checks were stolen.
Police say Foreman claimed another woman offered her $100 to cash the check. Jail staff later found an additional $600 check in Foreman’s possession.
